Congratulations to the Peterborough STEM Festival team, who were jointly awarded the Pride of Peterborough Volunteer/Voluntary Group award with the Peterborough Lithuanian Group.

It’s a well-deserved award, and nice to see more local recognition of the amazing effort, hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved.

Peterborough STEM Festival launched in 2016 as a free event for local children and families to find out more about Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths. And since then it’s grown to more than 4,000 attendees in 2019.

And it’s entirely run by volunteers, and organisers from the non-profit CIC Digital People in Peterborough.

In the interests of disclosure, I co-founded DPiP many years ago, and remain heavily involved in it, along with the STEM Festival. Partly because after returning to Peterborough after some years away, I was introduced to one of the Directors of the company. And we’ve now been living together for almost 2 years!

So well done to everyone involved — sponsors, supporters, volunteers, the organising team, and everyone who has attended, let us put up posters, shared the event online or offline, and I’m definitely looking forward to 2020…
