Dismissing Covid as something which only impacts the vulnerable is a way to minimise the real risks to everyone, and to leave anyone more vulnerable isolated from society.

There are plenty of studies demonstrating the risks of mild or asymptomatic Covid infections on everyone, including brain damage, heart attacks, strokes, respiratory complications, vision loss, and that the Covid virus persists in bones long after infection. That's before the impact of Long Covid, which is documented in elite athletes for example, who would hardly be considered vulnerable.

Recent research shows that younger adults (from 18 up) have worse neurologic symptoms of long Covid, and there's a continued correlation between both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, including in children. So the first point in the GBD isn't correct.

Herd immunity isn't an answer, due to the constant mutation of the virus, so the second point of the GBD is cobblers. And it's long known that the vaccines do not mount as effective a response in those who are immuno-comprimised or immuno-supressed - if they're accessible at all due to potential conflicts with medications for those existing conditions.

There's certainly a need for more nuanced discussion in some cases, but the GBD is not one of them.
